THE New Year countdown at various locations in Penang appears to be a relatively subdued affair compared to previous years in a show of compassion for the hundreds of thousands affected by the flood crisis.
The countdown events, which are usually boisterous, are being mellowed down, motivated by sympathy and understanding for those caught in the disaster.
