Crackdown under way


Thorough check: SPAD officers inspecting the privately registered cars used to transport passengers without permits during an operation at Home Ministry Complex in Setia Tropika in Johor Baru.

JOHOR BARU: The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) is going all out to nab private vehicles nationwide that use the Uber mobile application to ferry passengers.

SPAD Enforcement Department general manager Datuk Che Hasni Che Ahmad said 18 private cars in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Baru had been found to offer the services without having the necessary permits.
