Hotel prepares warm ambience and extensive buffet this season


Three colourful salad will be on the buffet line; Beetroot, Couscous, Pomegranate and French Bean Salad, Roasted Pumpkin with Feta Cheese as well as the Granny Smith Apple, Celery and Walnut Salad.

The Grand Millennium hotel in Kuala Lumpur aims to create a welcoming environment for guests this Christmas season in line with the theme Coming Home to a Grand Millennium Christmas.

“Last year we made a giant gingerbread house with Christmas treats all around it.

“This time we turned our lobby area into a “home” complete with a fireplace,” said executive chef Laurent Lherisson.

Lherisson added that every evening Santa Claus will be sitting by the fireplace reading stories to guests of all ages.

“It is usually very cold during Christmas in Europe and people look forward to returning home to a fireplace and sip warm milk,” he said, adding that the hotel would also serve cookies and warm milk during the sessions which will be held daily till Christmas from 5pm to 7pm.

Guests can also look forward to an extensive buffet spread this Christmas and New Year.

“We will be serving a British-style menu where you can expect a lot of roast beef and chicken,” said Lherisson, adding there would also be a large seafood spread.

During the recent Christmas review, we were served an extensive variety of cheese and cold cuts to start off.

Salads came in three glass cups each filled with different varieties

The Beetroot, Couscous, Pomegranate with French Bean salad, Granny Smith Apple with Celery and Walnut salad as well as Roasted Pumpkin with Feta Cheese, Almond Flake and Raisin salad were very appetising with a sweet after taste.

Our festive lunch continued with a serving of Chicken Roulade served with White beans, Brussels sprouts, pecans, cranberries and topped with Morel sauce.

This warm and flavourful main course was reminiscent of a home-cooked meal.

For dessert, the chefs brought out a two-tiered high tea stand filled with different cakes and cookies made specially for the festive period.

I tried two Christmas cookies and a small slice of chocolate cake.

Overall, I found the servings to be rather paltry. Perhaps the chefs were preparing us for our New Year resolution of staying fit for 2015.

The Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve buffet dinner is priced at RM148 (Adult) and RM74 (Child).

The Christmas day brunch buffet is priced at RM88 (Adult) and RM44 (Child) while the New Year’s day buffet brunch is priced at RM70 (Adult) and RM35 (Child) .
