KUANTAN: The 1Malaysia Year End Sale campaign in Pahang has targeted sales of between RM40mil and RM50mil which is a realistic figure.

However, it is hoped that floods would not hit the Kuantan and other parts of the state.

State Tourism and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Sharkar Shamsuddin said the floods which is a normal phenomena in the state every end of the year is something which could not be avoided.

However, Mohd Sharkar said since the campaign is held during the long school holidays, the number of visitors coming to the state and mainly the town of Kuantan is expected to go up by threefold compared to other months.

He said if the town is not badly affected by flood as like last year where the town was almost paralysed because of the road entering the town were flooded, then the targetted sales can be achieved.

“The mega sales campaign is not only for Kuantan town despite it being launched here as we have many other shopping malls and other shopping outlets in the whole state in other districts and places.

“However, the centre of attraction is still here where we have four main shopping malls comprising East Coast Mall, Mega Mall, Kuantan Parade, Teruntum Complex, and another four malls are in Mentakab, Temerloh and Bentong.

“We also have attractions in Cameron Highlands, Rompin, Muadzam Shah, which are well visited by tourists, both locals and foreigners who would go on a buying spree on the variety of products and items,” Mohd Sharkar said after launching the 1Malaysia Year End Sale campaign recently.

He said apart from that the school holidays is the ideal time for both locals and tourists to enjoy their family outings at the 1Malaysia Year End Sale which is considered as the “mother of all sales” - offering a wide range of discounts, incentives and promotions across many other services.

“The 1Malaysia Year-End Sale is a grand shopping event that wraps up the year while shoppers can expect an interesting line-up of fashion-related events, entertainment and shopping promotions.

“The school holidays are also a perfect time for shopping as many retailers will have sales and promotions, to coincide with the national big sales,” he said.
