Majority of poll respondents say potholes and traffic jams irk them most

RESIDENTS of Petaling Jaya are nothing short of vocal when it comes to voicing out their pet peeves.

In this week’s The Star Online poll, we asked our readers - what is the biggest problem they face in Petaling Jaya? Was it potholes, traffic jams, crime, uncleanliness, floods or insufficient number of parking lots?

A majority of poll respondents (41%) said the biggest problem was the traffic jam, while almost 20% of them said there were not enough parking lots in Petaling Jaya.

A total of 1,290 people responded to the poll. The problems of potholes and crime were also a concern, calling for more enforcement from the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ).

“The lack of public transport infrastructure and people double parking is the cause of traffic jams in the city in my opinion,” said one respondent.

We asked the respondents to include other problems they face and some mentioned the one-way loop system (OWL), vandalism on public property like sticker ads, random development without proper planning, haphazard parking on the road and irregular garbage collection, to name a few.
