Community leaders say ball is now in mayor’s or FT Minister’s court

THE Save Vivekananda Ashrama Brickfields (SVAB) group has asked Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) not to approve the application to redevelop the century-old Vivekananda Ashram in Brickfields.

Its chairman G. Gunasegaran said following the revelation by Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz that the government had attempted to gazette the ashram as a heritage site in 2008, he said the ball was now in City Hall’s court.
