ALLIANZ Malaysia organised its third Fun Run – the Pacer Runfie – through its Allianz Pacer Running Community programme and incorporated a new and unique concept, as well as a touch of philanthropy.
The run, held at Taman Rekreasi Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur, had the participants taking ‘selfies’ at several activity checkpoints along the route.
“In line with Allianz Pacer’s vision of living a healthier lifestyle, we developed a creative and fun concept to bring Malaysians of all ages together with a view to promote running,” said Allianz Malaysia Berhad chief executive officer Zakri Khir.
The run was among a series of activities organised by Allianz Malaysia in conjunction with Malaysia Day. It included blood donation and road safety campaigns held nationwide.
Around 1,000 participants from all over the country gathered as early as 6am at Taman Rekreasi Bukit Jalil and after a warm-up session, the 5km event was flagged off at 7am.
Along the run route, athletes passed three specially-themed checkpoints, which offered interesting backdrops for ‘selfies’.
The first checkpoint featured popular super-heroes. This was followed by the Foam Tunnel while the third station featured a variety of props that the participants used to creatively pose with for the ‘selfies’.
At the finish line the runners received goodie bags that had an exclusive Allianz merchandise.
To add to the festive atmosphere, there were many exciting booths set up with different activities. The Nintendo Wii, foosball and air hockey booths had participants queuing up to win exclusive Allianz merchandise.
The National Cancer Society of Malaysia was also present to create awareness on breast cancer.
“This event is our way of celebrating Malaysia Day and the diversity of this country. We are pleased it brought Malaysians together through a common theme of healthy lifestyle and at the same time contribute towards a good cause, which was cancer awareness,” said Zakri.
