MALACCA: Former long-time Malacca hockey official K. Balakrishnan aged 74, subscribes to the notion that regularly recalling memories about past sporting experiences or childhood and school days could negate dementia among senior citizens and the elderly.

In fact, Mister Hockey Bala, as he is sportingly called since his administrative involvement in the game in the early 70s, says his mode runs in tandem with a pilot project launched in York County in England for its local residents in conjunction with this year’s national Dementia Awareness Week (May 18-24).
