KUALA LUMPUR: It was a glittering ceremony as more than 1,000 people including VIP guests, relatives and friends attended the wedding reception of the son of a prominent businessman-cum-politician.
Datuk Jeff Lam Chan Yuen - the youngest son of Pahang MCA deputy chairman Tan Sri Lam Kam Sang - decided to tie the knot with Datin Annie Low Aik Nee after several years of courtship in a romantic setting at a hotel here.
The reception of the newly-wed couple was graced by Tengku Mahkota Pahang Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, Tengku Muda Pahang Tengku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ahmad Shah, his consort Cik Puan Muda Pahang Cik Puan Nur Bahiyah Mohamad Akip and other members of the royalty.
Among the dignitaries present to share the joyous occasion were Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob, Federation of Chinese Associations president Tan Sri Pheng Yin Huah, MCA president and Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, former MCA leaders Tan Sri Lim Ah Lek and Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy, and Star Publications (M) Bhd chairman Datuk Fu Ah Kiow.
Others include Pahang police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Sharifuddin Abdul Ghani, Pahang MCA chairman Datuk Hoh Khai Mun, state deputy chairman Datuk Ti Lian Ker and state leaders namely Datuk Fong Koong Fuee, Datuk Chow Liong, Datuk Ng Fook Heng, Datuk Lim Nget Yoon, Datuk Seri Lee Jin Xian, Datuk Andy Chiew and Leong Kim Soon, as well as prominent businessmen, Chinese guilds, associations and community leaders.
While awaiting the nine-course dinner to commence, a cocktail reception was held for the guests who took the opportunity to mingle and exchange greetings with one another.
The lovely couple then made their way to the VIP table to join the royal family after the symbolic cake-cutting and champagne pouring ceremony.
While being served by the hotel staff, guests were treated to performances by several local artistes, a video shoot of the couple taken in Bali, Indonesia and slide show of wedding pictures.
In his brief speech, Lam, expressed gratitude to all his guests for attending the reception.
“I am indeed very humbled and honoured with the presence of Tengku Abdul Rahman and his consort to join us for this memorable occasion.
“I am also delighted with the presence of Adnan and Liow for taking their time off from their busy schedules to be with us tonight.
“Words just cannot described how I feel and would like to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart,” he said on stage accompanied by his wife.
Lam said Chan Yuen was his youngest of six children and like all fathers, would do and provide the best to nurture and bring them up to be a responsible adult.
