Taking it to the high seas

UPCOMING boat cruise party It’s The Ship teases music fans with Phase One of its line-up, featuring a diverse list of acts both international and regional, with SBCR (The Bloody Beetroots), Chvrches and Lil Jon among the acts set to play at what is expected to be Asia’s largest festival at sea aboard one of the world’s largest cruise liners — Royal Caribbean International’s Voyager of the Seas.

With the festival set to attract regional and international music-lovers for its inaugural voyage, It’s The Ship embarks from Singapore on Nov 21 and will return to shore on Nov 25 via the Straits of Malacca.

International and regional headliners will perform on multiple stages full steam ahead in a first-ever journey of this magnitude in Asia.

As a key highlight, the cruise liner will dock in the tropical island of Langkawi for a star-studded day beach party of epic proportions on Nov 23.

Livescape Group group chief executive officer Muhammad Iqbal said, “We wanted an event that merged the relaxed atmosphere of a vacation and the epic experience of a world-class music festival into one.

“Our guests can look forward to more than just a great party.

“The luxurious Voyager of the Seas features 14 guest decks, a royal promenade, a Vegas-style casino, full-sized sports courts, the first-ever ice skating rink at sea, a 3D cinema, a FlowRider surf simulator, a rock climbing wall 200 feet above the ocean and much more.”

A registration system, housed at www.itstheship.com, is now in place in order to encourage a mixed crowd on board the cruise.

The cabins, for all five days and four nights on-board, will range from USD430 (early bird price) to USD4,000 per person for the wickedly luxurious royal suite that boasts a grand piano as part of the amenities.

Prices also include main meals, selected non-alcoholic beverages and free usage of most of the ship’s facilities.

Response to pre-registration has proved to be extremely positive, with more than 10,000 people registering their interest to purchase cabins on board.

The floating music festival is expected to attract more than 3,800 fans, of which 60% are expected to come from outside of Singapore.

Participation is expected from countries including Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Australia and even from Europe and the US.

The phase one list of acts announced include international acts Aeroplane, Alex Metric, Chvrches, Crookers, Lil Jon, Louisahhh!!!, SBCR (The Bloody Beetroots) — DJ Set and Tropkillaz.

Regional and Malaysian acts announced include Dangerdisko, Eva T, H3, Irama, Mr Nasty and GuruGuru, Twinkies, all from Malaysia and Rave Republic, and Sungus from Singapore.
