For a healthy cause: The walkathon at the Perdana Botanical Garden providing a great opportunity for hotel associates to strengthen the bond among themselves and their family members.

The Unicef “Celebrate Children Around the World” walkathon took place at the Perdana Botanical Garden in Kuala Lumpur recently.

This year marked the 18th year of the collaboration between Unicef and Starwood Hotels and Resorts in protecting and promoting children’s rights.

Spearheaded by the human resource departments of all four Starwood Hotels in Kuala Lumpur, the event also raised funds to provide preschool education to the most disadvantaged children in rural communities.

It also provided a great opportunity to hotel associates to strengthen their bond among themselves and family members.

More than 250 associates and their family members from all four Starwood Hotels in Kuala Lumpur (namely Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral, Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur, Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur and The Westin Kuala Lumpur) participated in the 5km walkathon.

Each hotel showcased its own brand elements at individual booths with engaging activities.

Participants were greeted by Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur’s drink, a combination of intriguing local flavours, made from fresh fruits.

Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur organised a Sheraton Brand board game with a host of mind-challenging questions.

Meanwhile, The Westin Kuala Lumpur promoted their Westin Workout Gear Lending Programme with New Balance.

Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral featured a music performance through Live@Alofthotels by blogger Kelly Siew and her friend, Farouque.

They kept everyone entertained with their acoustic music.

A total of RM19,505 was raised at the event.
