IN an effort to reach out to the younger generation, the Malaysian Association of Tour & Travel Agents (MATTA) is organising a carnival-themed MATTA Fair in September, and will launch its first Social Media (Instagram) Contest.
The fair from Sept 5 to 7 will take place at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur.
“This fun competition is MATTA’s way of reaching out to the younger generation of travellers who are looking to satisfy their thirst for exploration and adventure,” said MATTA Fair organising committee member Nigel Wong at MATTA’s Hari Raya open house in PWTC recently.
All visitors to the fair are welcomed to participate in this exciting contest, regardless of their age and residency, with attractive prizes offered to the best entries throughout the three days.
To join the competition, visitors to the fair are required to use their creativity and take snapshots of themselves at specific locations at the fair and upload them on Instagram with the hashtag #mattafair.
“The contest provides MATTA a great opportunity to award its visitors and supporters who have played a key role in helping MATTA Fair establish its position as the leading travel fair in South-East Asia,” Wong said.
The MATTA Hari Raya open house welcomed about 500 guests, including its members, representatives from relevant ministries, the travel industry, tourism associations and airline partners, who were seen mingling with each other.
“MATTA decided not to call off the Hari Raya open house even though the national-level event was cancelled because of the MH17 tragedy,” said MATTA vice-president K.L. Tan.
“Our main objective of conducting this open house is to unite, supervise and coordinate the activities of the members and also to develop friendship among the members of the tour and travel industry,” said its president, Hamzah Rahmat.
