SOME 20kg of recycled ring tabs from aluminium cans have been collected to aid the Prostheses Foundation of HRH The Princess Mother of Thailand in Chiang Mai.
The tabs, packed inside five big bags, were donated by the Lions Club of Penang Hillview to Penang Girl Guides Association (PGGA) during a ceremony held at the PGGA Headquarters on Saturday.
On hand to receive the ring tabs were PGGA chairman Puan Sri Su Hashim and its commissioner Chan Kit Sin.
“The association will help to collect the tabs and deliver them to Chiang Mai in Thailand once we have collected the bulk of it,” said Chan.
Su Hashim later presented certificates of appreciation to seven members of the Queen’s Guides for organising a singing workshop earlier in the morning which was attended by eight junior Girl Guides from SMK Bukit Jambul.
The workshop, organised by the PGGA in collaboration with Penang Queen’s Guides’ Guild, taught members to sing new campfire songs such as Browsea Island, Sangam Song, Our Cabana and Paxlodge.
PGGA Queen’s Guides Guild president Lau Hui Ting hoped more members would participate in such workshop in the future.
“These songs help to build a stronger spirit and foster closer relationship among the members,” she said.
