Alamanda Shopping Centre treated 40 children from Rumah Anak Yatim Nur Hikmah to some Hari Raya shopping.
The excited children, who were between four and 17 years old, chose a new baju raya of their choice accompanied by Alamanda’s management team.
The children were each given RM100 to shop at AEON Big in Alamanda while the home was presented with an AEON Big gift card worth RM2,500 to purchase necessities.
They were then treated to a Qasida recital which is a Perso-Arabic lyrical poetry by Wariseni Budaya.
This was followed by a Ramadan tazkirah (religious talk) session by Pencetus Ummah Rahmat which the children listened to attentively.
Retail partners of Alamanda joined the shopping centre’s efforts to bring joy to the children by contributing goodie bags, food hampers and cash contributions.
The participating retail partners were Parkson, AEON Big, Cold Storage, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), Mothercare, Gulyn, Toys R Us, Cosway, Cempaka Sari Florist, First Million Avenue Money Changer, Salina’z Beauty, Omar Ali, Chakri Xpress, The Manhattan Fish Market and Choc Boutique.
Meanwhile, Wariseni Budaya performers who were invited to perform at Alamanda, also contributed food hampers to the home.

Alamanda’s decor this year has a balik kampung theme with its traditional kampung house in an East Coast fishermen’s village house.
There is a beautiful wooden house shaded by coconut trees, complete with a ‘sampan’ (boat).
Visitors will be able to catch traditional performances such as ghazal, gamelan, dikir barat, caklempung, keroncong, wayang kulit and traditional dances among many others. There will also be a wau-making demonstration.
Shoppers who spend RM300 and above in a maximum of two receipts can redeem a set of Alamanda Raya packets while those who spend RM1,500 and above in a maximum of four receipts can redeem an exclusive Alamanda traditional ‘labu sayong’ on top of the set of Raya packets.
Weekday shoppers from Monday till Thursdays are also in for a treat as Alamanda will be rewarding the first 30 shoppers who spend RM300 and above an additional set of Raya packets as well as a chance at a lucky dip with prizes from Carlo Rino, The Travel Store and Bonia.
