MALACCA: The local Portuguese community, particularly at the Portuguese Settlement in Ujong Pasir, deserve a pat on the back for steadfastly retaining and preserving traditions that date back over 500 years.

Every year during the latter part of June, Portuguese-Eurasian homes at the Portuguese Settlement, Praya Lane and Kampong Banda Hilir have little white candles lit on verandahs, fences, balconies and front porches just as twilight sets in.
