UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) is calling the public to join them at the Annexe Gallery Central Market, Kuala Lumpur from now until June 22, between 10am and 10pm for World Refugee Day. There will be a photo exhibition called “Pieces of Home”, where refugees speak of the most precious items they brought with them when they were forced to flee their countries; a Refugee Film Screening today; and an arts and culture weekend with the Refugee Arts and Crafts Bazaar today and tomorrow. On May 19, Pelita Hati Gallery of Art turned 19. The gallery’s ongoing exhibition compiles some of the artists’ works that have been exhibited since the gallery opened. Participating artists include Syed Thajudeen, Lui Cheng Tak, Haron Mokhtar, Azman Hilmi, Hadi Salleh, Jamil Mat Isa and Suzlee Ibrahim. In conjunction with the occasion, the gallery also launched “This is NOT an ART Book”, which tells the story of Pelita Hati. The exhibition will be held from now until June 28 at the gallery on the first floor, No 8, Jalan Abdullah, off Jalan Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur. Viewing hours are from 10am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday.
