JOHOR BARU: The Johor leg of the Home Décor and Design Exhibition (HOMEDEC) this year aims to rake in RM18mil in sales transaction from a wide array of home and lifestyle products.
The ongoing three-day exhibition, is expected to record an increase of 16% in transacted sales compared to last year’s event also held at Persada Johor International Convention Centre here.
The event organiser CIS Network Sdn Bhd exhibition’s manager Liliane Lee said that the 395-booth exhibition was one of the largest installations in the Homedec series with the participation of 147 exhibitors.
“We believe that the good property market in Iskandar Malaysia will encourage more sales compared to last year, which hit some RM14mil in total,” she said.
Lee said that through previous exhibitions, they found out that homeowners were becoming more willing to splurge on quality products to beautify their homes.
“Products that are trendy and have a lifestyle feel to it are the most popular items because it is the in thing right now.
“We also noticed that kitchen products make up most of the sales, which was no surprise as research shows that the kitchen eats up most of the renovation budget for home owners here,” she said.
She added that the exhibitors, from Johor Baru, Kuala Lumpur and Penang, are offering a huge range of products for interior design, kitchen and bath, furniture, home secutiry system, bed and linen and electrical appliances all under one roof.
The event, she said is expected to attract 28,000 visitors to look for good deals and bargains for their homes.
Besides that, visitors who spend RM200 in a single receipt at the exhibition in the Homedec Contest have an opportunity to win sponsored prizes of up to RM53,000 including the grand prize of a Lady Americana king sized mattress, a products that is used in many five-star hotels.
The opening hours for the exhibition are from 11am until 9pm and entry is free.
