Ministry’s restructuring exercise for affordable housing near completion

KUCHING: The state Housing Ministry is nearing the end of its restructuring exercise, first proposed three years ago, mainly to meet plans for 50,000 new affordable homes in the next Malaysian Plan.

The ministry, as well as the Housing Development Corporation, is likely to increase its staff strength, while responsibilities, like providing credit to those who cannot secure housing loans from banks, would be transferred to newly set up companies.
