KUCHING: A man has been pronounced dead after he was found hanged at his house in Capital Garden, Jalan Penrissen here.
The discovery was made around 11am yesterday by the victim’s friend.
“He called me earlier, asking me to come for lunch. When I arrived, I called for him but there was no answer.
“I then went inside and that was when I saw him. I quickly sought help from the neighbours and together, we brought him down and contacted Sarawak General Hospital (SGH),” the friend said, adding that the victim was not breathing when found.
Paramedics later pronounced the man dead and police sent the body to SGH mortuary.
A police spokesman said a note addressed to the victim’s family was also found at the scene.
“We believed it was written by him. All his siblings are studying outside Sarawak, leaving him alone in the house. We are still investigating the case,” the spokesman said.
Meanwhile a housewife was terrified to see her teenage son being attacked by a gang.
The woman surnamed Wong, 37, from Sungai Maong, told Bintawa police that around 8pm on Saturday, a group of five armed men came to her house around 8pm.
“My son, who is 15, approached them. Not long after that, they attacked him. My daughter saw this and rushed over to help her brother, but she too was beaten.
“To my horror, one of the group took out a cock’s spur and struck my son with it. I couldn’t do anything but screamed,” Wong said.
After the group left, Wong rushed her son to Sarawak General Hospital.
“Imagine my shock when the doctor told me that the spur missed his heart by mere inches,” she said.
As at press time, Wong’s son was in stable condition. Police are currently hunting for the attackers.
