Affin Bank branch manager and organising chairman Ahmad Fauzi Mat Iza said more than 1,500 forms had been distributed.
“Free T-shirts will be given out to the first 2,000 participants. Fantastic lucky draw prizes also await those who complete the walk,” he told a press conference at Royale Bintang Hotel recently.
He said the 6.2km walk is open to the public for free.
“Participants must register on the day of the event from 6am to 7am at the Esplanade.
“Other than the heritage walk, those who wish to travel on their bicycles can also register for the bicycle category.”
The flag-off will be held at the Esplanade before moving over to Light Street, Farquhar Street, Leith Street, Chulia Street, Cannon Street, Acheh Street, Beach Street, Weld Quay and back to the finishing line at the Esplanade.
He said that besides free T-shirts, participants would also be given a wristband which must be returned to the organiser in order to claim the goodie bags and lucky draw coupons.
The other activities include zumba dance, colouring contest, jigsaw puzzle contest, exhibitions by Affin Bank partners, free medical check-up and blood donation campaign and stage games and performances.
“There will also be 15 to 20 trishaws to ferry those who like to experience the George Town heritage enclave in a trishaw.
“Another exciting activity is the half-hour paragliding performance,” he added.
The event is jointly organized by Affin Bank and Affin Islamic Bank Northern Region branches and business centre, with the collaboration of the Penang Amateur Athlete Association and the Penang Municipal Council.
Ahmad Fauzi said contributions would be made to the St Nicholas Home and Wisma Yatim Perempuan Pulau Pinang as a corporate social responsibility initiative of the bank.
