MORE than 500 cyclists took part in the 24th Putrajaya Inter Parks Ride (PIPR) with Master Gardener on May 11.
The participants rode 22km from Wetland Park to the Botanical Garden, Putra Perdana Park, along Lebuh Perdana Selatan, Promenade P16, Lebuh Perdana Timur to Persiaran Utara and back to Wetland Park.
They also learned about gardening from Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) master gardener Fauzi Mohd Nor and made a pit stop at Putrajaya’s nursery in Botanical Garden to find out more about caring for plants.
The event is in line with PPj’s efforts to educate the public to appreciate the environment and share its experience in maintaining the greenery and beauty of its parks.
PPj president Tan Sri Aseh Che Mat and Felda Global Ventures CEO Mohd Emir Mavani Abdullah also took part.
Aseh said the programme was held several times a year to promote the parks in Putrajaya.
“The number of participants is higher than expected. Hopefully, it will grow even bigger next time,” he said.
Aseh added that Putrajaya was also open to cycling activities on the last Sunday of every month.
PIPR is a cycling event that had been held since 2010 with a free and fun ride concept.
It also made it into the Malaysia Book of Records in 2012 with the most number of participants in a cycling event when 3,077 took part.
