New homes for tent dwellers in three years


some of the residents from block 5 of taman permata in dengkil have been living in the tents that have been placed on the car park since june last after their homes were declared unsafe by the authorities.

THE waiting game continues for the occupants of 400 low-cost flats in Taman Permata, Dengkil, who want to be given terrace houses. They claim the flats are not fit for habitation and have moved out, with some living in tents in the carpark of Block 5 for almost a year

Taman Permata Residents Association secretary K. Ramadass said they recently received a letter from the National Housing Department stating that the 12ha site proposed by the state was suitable to build 400 low-cost houses.
