Dental care company donates to four welfare homes

The “Mari Beramal Bersama Colgate” (MBBC) charity campaign this year successfully collected an astounding RM180,000 for 15 welfare homes throughout Malaysia.

The campaign has helped improved the lives of many underprivileged children for six years now.

A cheque of RM180,000 was presented by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim, deputy secretary-general of strategy Datuk Harjeet Singh Hardev Singh and Colgate-Palmolive Marketing Sdn Bhd associate director of marketing Nor Aziah Mohd Said to four representatives of the welfare homes.

The total collection surpassed the initial target of RM150,000.

Malaysians contributed 10sen to 20sen with every purchase of Colgate charity packs from July and August last year.

Young and talented YouTube sensation Najwa Latif was the ambassador of the campaign this year and she spent time with more than 350 children from 15 welfare homes at Kidzania, where the children had a chance to experience their dream jobs such as being a doctor, pilot and even a newscaster.

Besides that, the volunteers from Colgate brought smiles to the children of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ukhuwah Anak Yatim Miskin in Sabak Bernam district earlier this year when the home received newly-refurbished bookshelves and matting for its rooms.

The team also organised educational activities such as charades, role-playing, confidence-building exercises and proper tooth brushing demonstrations after cleaning and brightening the children’s rooms.

“The MBBC charity campaign is one of our ways of giving back to the community. We are honoured to do our bit for the children and we look forward to furthering our efforts through educational and motivational ways,” Nor Aziah said.

Since 2008, Colgate has collected a total of RM927,500 in contributions, which has helped unprivileged children and welfare homes around the country. The campaign has also created special experiences for the beneficiary children, through memorable outings and educational trips to the National Science Centre, Zoo Negara, Sunway Lagoon Theme Park and National Planetarium.
