Hundreds flock to health and beauty retail chain’s annual makeover

To spread greater awareness on the importance of inner health to enhance outer beauty, Guardian Malaysia once again held its annual “Great Guardian Makeover” at 1Utama Shopping Centre recently.

Themed “My Date with Beauty”, the event saw hundreds of Guardian customers queuing up to get a makeover by hairstylist and makeup artists from A Cut Above Academy.

The two-day event attracted about 1,500 participants.

Nude and glamorous makeup were the choices given to the participants.

Apart from the makeover, the participants who arrived as early as 10am were given a goodie bag each and a personalised photo to bring home.

To keep participants entertained, various activities were held onstage by participating brands, including an air-brush and special effects make-up demonstration by A Cut Above Academy.

Making a special appearance to further liven up the atmosphere was actor and singer Amaris.

“Guardian remains committed to its aim of ensuring quality of life by promoting health, beauty and wellness within the community in which it operates,” said Guardian chief operating officer Loi Liang Tok.

Loi said the event was held every year to help individuals look and feel good from the inside out.

“We at Guardian provide the complete package for internal and external beauty. Every year, the number of participants and their level of excitement and enthusiasm increases,” she added.

Guardian customers who purchased products for RM20 and above in a single receipt, including from one participating brand, were entitled to a makeover ticket at RM10.

During the event, Guardian also introduced two online contests — the PhotoBox contest on Facebook and an Instagram contest — until April 30.

The PhotoBox contest requires participants to pose creatively with props provided by Guardian, “like” Guardian’s Facebook page and tag the picture and upload it as the contestants’ Facebook profile picture. The contest’s lucky winner will walk away with a designer bag worth RM1,640.

In the Instagram contest, participants need to follow Guardian on Instagram, snap a selfie and submit the photo, and in not more than 20 words, tell Guardian “What makes you beautiful”.

The best entry will win a designer bag worth RM1,140.

The 18 participating brands were L’Oreal Paris, Maybelline New York, Alcon, Avene, Bio Essence, BioGrow Oat BG22, Biore, Blackmores, Brands, Dermatix, Enchanteur, Hada Labo, Nano White, Neutrogena, Nivea, Oslee, Palmer’s and Safi.
