A TOTAL of 592 SMJK(C) Jit Sin students sat for SPM last year, with 447 obtaining 5As and above.
Eighty-eight students scored 11As, 109 obtained 10As, 77 (9As), 49 (8As), 36 (7As), 50(6As) and 38(5As).
Principal Tor Peng Chiang said the school’s performance dropped slightly this year, as one student failed the History paper.
Tan Wan Yee, from Bukit Mertajam was elated when she scored 10A+ and an A in Bahasa Malaysia, English, Moral Studies, History, Maths, Add Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Chinese Language and English 1119.
“Paying attention in class and consulting teachers if I had any difficulty understanding a topic, helped me a lot,” she said, adding that her ambition was to become a dentist.
Ooi Xiandi, also from Bukit Mertajam, who scored 9A+ and 2As, said she started her revision only after the trial examination.
Yew Chun Siang, who scored 7A+, 3As and an A2 for his English 1119 paper, said he started studying seriously only after failing to do well in his trial examination.

the first half of the year and only started concentrating on my studies later in the year,”
Of the 202 students of the Bukit Mertajam High School who sat for SPM, 55 scored all As compared to 49 who sat for the exam in 2012.
S. Rakkshana, who scored A+ in all her 12 subjects, said she was not sure she would do so well.
Rakkshana, who wants to become a lawyer, thanked her parents and teachers for their encouragement.
Another student Sahib Singh said he had expected his results of 10A+ as he had worked very hard.
He said he attended tuition classes for certain subjects and revised consistently.
