THE landscape in Kajang town may have changed tremendously over the decades, but fond memories of the place are forever etched in the minds of many Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) graduates.
The campus is located near the town where undergraduates go for Cantonese fried kuay teow and shop for groceries and stationery during weekends.
On Saturday, about 200 graduates gathered at the Kajang town to relive the good old days.
Many of them graduated in the 1980s.
Guest-of-honour MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and his wife Datin Seri Lee Sun Loo — both graduated in 1986 — were seen catching up with old friends.
The event, themed ‘Kajang — The Starting Point’, was more meaningful for the couple as they were campus sweethearts.
Another pair of campus sweethearts who tied the knot were Datuk Boey Chin Gan and Datin Michelle Chew Yen Tyug, who graduated in 1992 and 1993 respectively.
Boey is now special officer to Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Maha- thir.
Also present at the event was MCA Youth chief Chong Sin Woon, who graduated in 1999.
The alumni dinner held at Shuang Xi Lou in Wisma MKH was organised by Star Publications (M) Bhd chief executive officer/group managing director Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, who graduated in 1984.
