FACILITIES for the physically and visually challenged people are lacking in Penang and more should be built.
“Existing facilities should be upgraded,” said Pulau Tikus assemblyman Yap Soo Huey.
“Even employees who hire visually challenged people do not really understand their needs, and hiring of such people are few”, she said at the dinner of Persatuan Tongkat Putih Pulau Pinang last week.
Yap urged employers to hire more of
these people and give them the opportunity to prove they had skills and were capable.
About 100 people including 30 visually challenged adults and children attended the dinner.
Also present at the dinner was the founder of Persatuan Tongkat Putih Pulau Pinang, Swarn Singh.
