Colourful Thaipusam celebration

Devotees carrying kavadis to fulfill their vows to Lord Murugan during Thaipusam.

CHANTS of “vel vel”, colourful kavadi processions and traffic jams were the sounds and sights along the road leading to the Sri Subramaniar Temple in Gunung Cheroh in Ipoh as thousands of devotees walked miles to the temple for Thaipusam yesterday.

Some came to fulfil their vows to Lord Muruga for answering their prayers while others chanted alongside the devotees who walked barefoot, carrying pots of milk or kavadis.
