TERRA Garden founder and garden designer Desmond Ho has recently released a new book packed with tips on being a green thumb and building home gardens.

Titled Desmond Ho’s Guide to Beautiful Home Gardens, the book provides practical advice in planning and building a garden to help bring nature into people’s homes.

Ho, who has 15 years’ experience in tropical horticulture, wrote 11 chapters of useful information on various aspects of building a home garden, including plants, lights, water features, furniture and other essentials.

“It is important to strike a balance between the indoors and outdoors,” said Ho, whose company has won many national and international accolades for its garden concepts.

“There should be a designated outdoor area for homeowners to receive the beauty of nature.”

Ho also founded Neo Nusantara, a Malaysian garden concept which emphasises Malaysian culture and our relationship with nature.

While his book is not a step-by-step guide, Ho has included case studies to shed more light on setting up beautiful home gardens in bungalows, apartments, semi-detached and link houses.

“I hope to promote the heart and soul of the Malaysian garden through this book, to let more people experience the pleasures and benefits that come with the outdoor living concept that I so love,” added Ho.

The book is the latest addition to the MPH Masterclass Series, a range of guidebooks with popular topics written by Malaysians for Malaysians. It is available at all major bookstores for RM35.90.
