SANTA Claus made an early appearance at the hypermarket in Alor Setar’s Star Parade shopping complex to the delight of the children present.
He dropped by at an 8m-tall Christmas tree erected at the complex to give away prizes and goodies to winners of the children’s colouring contest organised by the complex management.
Complex executive Putri Sharihazlin Rosman said this was the first time that a tree was put up as part of the complex’s Christmas celebration.
“We believe we have the tallest Christmas tree in Kedah. The complex is celebrating the joyous occasion in a big way by organising more activities and performances over the next two weeks,” she said.
“The management has already organised a children’s colouring contest with the help of Popular Book Store which is one of our tenants.
“We provided the cash prizes while Popular sponsored the trophies and other items,” she said.
The colouring contest on Friday was for children aged between six and nine.
The event attracted about 50 children and they were grouped into two categories — one for those aged six and seven (Group A) and another for those aged eight and nine (Group B).
The top prize of RM80, a trophy and other goodies was won by SK Sri Perdana student Rusyidina Rajmi from Group B while Angel Yiap walked away with RM50 and similar prizes after being picked as the winner from Group A.
