HONG Seng Group of Companies (HSG) has stamped another achievement in its history by opening its biggest showroom with an investment of over RM100mil.
The showroom spanning about 5,000sq m is located at Sungai Lokan in Butterworth, Penang, and functions as a centre for sales, exhibition, administration, research and development, training, inventory, maintenance and repair.
As a leading player in the commercial vehicle industry, HSG started its operations in 1965 as a small workshop selling engines, auto parts, rebuilding commercial vehicles and others before going into distributorship of new trucks, leasing property, construction and engineering projects.
HSG managing director Datuk Teoh Hai Hin said the company had since secured seven ‘Exclusive Distributor Agreements’ to assemble, distribute and market products from Chinese companies.
“With the supply and support from these principals, we are able to cover the full range of commercial vehicles which includes all types of heavy trucks, medium duty trucks, light trucks, mini trucks, pickups and minivans.
“China has become one of the world’s biggest auto makers and has overtaken the United States to become the world’s No. 1 auto maker with an annual growth rate of more than 20%,” he said during the opening of the showroom on Tuesday.
After signing on the plaque of the new showroom, Teoh kissed and paid tribute to his mother Ong Ah Hua, who is also the group chairman, for her work in the company over the years.
