YY CHIN, a former banker with a passion for photography, launched his second photography book titled Wild: Reflections on Business and Life at Bangsar Village recently.

The launch was held at a photo exhibition that featured 30 photographs taken from the book. An auction of six selected works was held simultaneously.

Using 118 photographs taken from trips to South Africa, Namibia, Uganda, Zambia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Madagascar, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Kuril Islands in Russia and through quotes and anecdotes of various personalities, Chin demonstrates how the wild is an excellent teacher of leadership, business and life.

Chin said, “I planned about five years ago that if I have the opportunity to start another book, it would be on photographs of wildlife.

“About a year ago a friend suggested that since I was actively involved in business, I should relate wildlife to business. Hence, the title of the book.”

Wild: Reflections on Business and Life is priced at RM200.

All proceeds from the sale of the book, which is sponsored by AmBank Group, will be channelled to charity, namely the Orang Asli Community Learning Centres Outreach Project, Bangsar Village Kids’ for Kids’ Charity fund and Disabled Rehabilitation Centre Nepal.

Proceeds from the auction of photo canvases at the exhibition will also be channelled to the same charity organisations.

AmBank Group chairman Tan Sri Azman Hashim said, “Chin has shown that we can do philanthropic work through photography.

“He has the talent and desire to use his hobby for a good cause, an act that everyone should follow. The AmBank Group is proud to support this project as we continuously play our CSR role for the community at large.

“Projects such as these help to meet our objective of playing an effective corporate role as a socially responsible corporate citizen,” .

The exhibition at Bangsar Village, which ended on Dec 8, gave visitors the opportunity to submit their bids as part of a silent auction for the photo canvases on display.

All proceeds will also be channelled to charity.
