SEB brings Christmas gifts, food to Penans in Metalun

KUCHING: Penan villagers affected by the Murum Dam had an early Christmas celebration with Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB) staff at their new homes in the Metalun resettlement area.

A team of volunteers from SEB visited the resettled community on Friday, bringing Christmas presents as well as food and other supplies.

Community relations special adviser Stell Sindau was happy to see a team effort during this festive season.

“I was very touched to see that our team made the effort to bring the Christmas spirit to the Penans in Metalun. For me, it feels like Christmas has come early,” he said.

SEB’s sports club secretary Elizabeth Lee added: “ The club is not just about promoting a healthy lifestyle through sports, it also likes to be involved in community work.”

A barbecue feast was held as Christmas music played in the background. Presents were distributed to the children, who rewarded the volunteers with smiles and laughter.

After Metalun, the team is scheduled to bring Christmas cheer to the communities in Tegulang before heading home.
