SMART Reader Kids fraternity recently celebrated its 13 years of success in providing quality early childhood education to the children of the nation.
Themed “Thirteenth Fortune”, Smart Reader Worldwide’s 2013’s Franchisee Award Nite was organised to recognise high-performing franchises across the nation.
During the event, the audience were entertained with impersonations of celebrities such as Loganathan Arumugam from the Alleycats, Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean and South Korean sensation Psy, among others.
Smart Reader Worldwide’s in-house band, Allegrezza, also took to the stage to liven up the atmosphere during the evening.
At the event, 129 centres were given recognition with their respective franchises for their hard work throughout the year.
Seventeen franchises were given the Diamond Awards, 42 were awarded Platinum while 65 walked away with Gold Awards.
The coveted Franchisee of the Year 2013 went to Tiong Mee Chin, who has nine centres in Johor.
Tiong has a total of 800 students.
The judging criteria included the number of students enrolled in the centre.
Present at the event were Smart Reader Worldwide CEO, Datuk Seri Dr Richard Ong, Smart Reader Worldwide group executive director Datin Seri Dr KH Wang and research and consumer policy director Datuk Mohamed Elias Abu Bakar, who represented Domestic Trade, Co-Operatives and Consu-merism Minister Datuk Hasan Malek.
“The emphasis on preschool education has never been more important than in the last 20 years,” said Dr Ong in his speech.
They currently have more than 300 centres nationwide.
To remain a strong contender in the field of childhood education, the franchise is introducing Smart Reader Kids Islamic, which will go nationwide next year.
Smart Reader Worldwide is also looking to expand to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and Wuhan in China.
