Secondary school students unleash artistic talent in competition

The winners of the Then, Now & Beyond competition posing with their winning entries.

A painting titled “The Nest”, a powerful portrayal of a cancer patient’s life in despair by Nurul Hanisah Nahizam from SMK Bandar Tun Razak, captured the hearts of judges to win the Most Promising Student Artist and the Potential Breakout Artist awards in Galeri Petronas visual art competition themed “Then, Now & Beyond”.

Nurul Hanisah’s painting was one of more than 100 paintings submitted for the competition. Her powerful piece depicts a bird resting at the edge of a nest as it prepares to take it first flight, presenting an emotional interpretation of life through the eyes of a cancer patient.
