THE Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce (PCCC) is set to promote Penang on a large scale during its 110th anniversary celebration.
Its president Datuk Seri Choot Ewe Seng said the celebration would be a three-day event with Chinese Chamber of Commerce delegates from Singapore, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Indonesia and others taking part.
“Chamber affiliates from other states will also join the celebration which starts on Saturday.
“There will be a welcome dinner on the first day hosted by the state government at the Khoo Kongsi in Armenian Street where guests will be entertained by cultural shows,” he told a press conference.
Choot said booths demonstrating the art of making local handicraft would be set up at the dinner. He added that the opening ceremony of the celebration would be held on Sunday at G Hotel in Gurney Drive.
“A forum will be held at the venue after the opening ceremony and three guests, namely shoe designer Datuk Jimmy Choo, Value Partners Group Limited chairman and co-chief investment officer Cheah Cheng Hye and Penang Institute economics research fellow Dr Lim Kim-Hwa, have been invited.
“PCCC’s anniversary dinner will be held on the same day at the hotel. The last day will be ‘free and easy’ for the delegates,” he said.
