Centre in Kampung Baru Wah Loong neary 50% complete

RESIDENTS in Kampung Baru Wah Loong, Kampar can look forward to holding their New Year celebrations at the new community hall in their village.

MCA Kampar division secretary Daniel Wa said work to build the hall started in July and would be completed by December this year.

“The construction project, undertaken by the Kampar District Council, is nearly 50% completed.

“The council will hand the hall over to the village committee once it is completed,” he said during a site visit recently.

It was reported that former Kampar MP Datuk Lee Chee Leong has helped the village to get an allocation of RM200,000 for the project from the Housing and Local Government Ministry.

The former 60-year-old termite-infested Rukun Tetangga and village committee activity centres were demolished to make way for the new community hall.

Wa, who was entrusted by Lee to oversee the community hall project, said the project was carried out using only the funds allocated to the council.

Meanwhile, Kampung Baru Wah Loong MCA branch chairman Tai Shu Quan said the kindergarten, which used to operate in the old activity centres, was relocated to the community hall in Aston Settlement near Kampar old town.

“The new community hall is not suitable to house a kindergarten, as there are no proper classrooms to conduct lessons,” he said.
