FAIRY lights, reindeer and snowflakes takes centre stage at malls in the Klang Valley as they strive to display their prettiest Christmas decorations this season.
It is after all only mid-November, but most shopping centres such as Sunway Pyramid, Bangsar Village, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and Berjaya Times Square are already buzzing with the Christmas spirit.
With the theme “Christmas Wonders”, Pavilion KL aims to create an extraordinary white Christmas experience this season.
Upon setting foot on the mall’s Bukit Bintang entrance, visitors will be greeted by a Christmas tree set in snow, where a Christmas Dome sits right behind it.
“This year, it will ‘snow’ at the entrance beginning Dec 1,” said Pavilion KL marketing director Kung Suan Ai.
There will also be an archway of LED lights and icicles along with furry white polar bear decor.
This year, Pavilion has outdones itself with a first of its kind 40-foot white Christmas tree fitted with LED lights in Malaysia.
Kung said Christmas decorations were usually up by early November as Pavilion KL strived to be on par with other international malls.
Joining them with “A Soaring Christmas” theme is Bangsar Village 1, as hot-air balloons carrying Santa’s elves and presents hang from the ceiling among clouds of blue.
“The story behind it is that the elves busy themselves moving gift boxes from balloon to balloon before placing it under the Christmas tree,” said Bangsar Village casual mall leasing manager Liew Ai Lynn.
The mall’s Christmas tree stands about two storeys high and is decorated with traditional ornaments, bows and ribbons.
Their main highlight for this festive season is the lego-themed decoration, which will be set up in Bangsar Village 2.
“This will only be up on Nov 23 and it has taken thousands of man-hours to construct. It will be awe-inspiring once it’s up,” she said.
Berjaya Times Square, meanwhile, aims to present a Christmas for both the young and old.
With the classic theme of red and gold highlights, the mall will house a 40-ft Christmas tree with deep red pillars surrounding it.
Other malls such as Sungei Wang Plaza will be going Christmas Braodway with huge red velvet curtains and white pillars adorned with Christmas garlands.
Over at Sunway Pyramid, a “Fairies Dreams” theme sees the mall joining forces with Children’s Wish Society to help make the wishes of terminally-ill children come true.
