Ministry's ruling on fishing net sizeserves to conserve marine life, fishermen told

SIBU: The state Fisheries Department has assured fishermen here that the ruling that requires them to use nets with a minimum mesh size of 38mm, is enforced to sustain marine resources in the long run.

Chief of the Assessment and Planning Unit of the state Fisheries Department, Muhamad Saini Suliansa, said this after a meeting with 30 fishermen from the Sarawak Fishing Vessels Association here yesterday, who voiced out on their displeasure against the ruling enforced by the Agriculture and Agro-based Ministry.
