RPGT raised or DIBS barred to make little difference in Sarawak, says observer

KUCHING: The sharp increase in Real Property Gains Tax (RPGT) and removal of the Developer Interest Bearing Scheme (DIBS) will have little impact on Sarawak’s property firms as there are few market speculators in the state.

According to Hock Seng Lee Bhd (HSL) executive director Yii Chee Sing, unlike in Peninsular Malaysia, there were very few property speculators in Sarawak as most of the home buyers were owners.
