Water authority should be responsible for maintenance and repairs

MAINTENANCE and repairs for damaged pillars or ground hydrants are the responsibility of Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas), said a senior technical executive of the former Water Works Department.

He said the water authority should be responsible as it used the hydrants for multiple purposes such as to gauge pressure in neighbourhood pipes and reservoirs, to flush out sediments and for de-watering, which is water removal to enable pipe repairs.
