State urged to probe timber firms over alleged environmental damage


KUCHING: The state government has been urged to investigate two Sarawak timber companies recently blacklisted by Norway for their alleged involvement in environmentally damaging activities.

Sarawak PKR chairman Baru Bian said the decision by the Norwegian government to ban its sovereign wealth fund from investing in the two companies was based on extensive studies and reports by its Ethics Council.
