DEVOTEES celebrating the Navarathiri Festival in Penang gave a special ‘fruity’ send-off to the Hindu Mother Goddess known as Shakthi or Amman to mark the end of the celebration.
The Mother Goddess statue and altar at the Sri Raja Mariamman Temple in Kampung Jawa Baru were decorated with more than 5,000 fruits including apples, oranges, honeydews, limes and pears.
