Residents of Kg Salak finally get to enjoy electricity

KUCHING: The more than 100-year-old Kampung Salak on an island near Santubong, which is home to about 350 residents, has finally been connected to the state grid.

“It was a dream for us to have electricity supply,” said village chief Penghulu Wahid Mat. “The electricity was connected around the middle of the year. The last Hari Raya was the first time this village has ever celebrated it with such brightness at night.”
