ENTHUSIASTS of green living can look forward to the ‘Heal The Earth, Count Me In’ event this weekend at the Subterranean Penang International Convention and Exhibition (sPICE) centre (formerly known as PISA).
Jointly organised by the Penang Green Council, Penang Institute, Aspial Wedding, Jasper Promenade, Penang Photographers Network Club, Popular Bookstore, Sunshine Garden and Art of Living, the two-day green expo boasts of educational and fun activities for both adults and children.
The highlight of the event includes a mini theme park to be assembled at the venue by Escape Theme Park.
Besides giving away free plants, the other programmes during the event are colouring contest, photography exhibition, green fashion show, green technology talk, lucky draw, cooking competition and free tips to conduct environmental friendly weddings.
Himpunan Hijau chairperson Wong Tack will also conduct a forum on zero waste management on Saturday.
The event will begin with a yogathon from 8am to 10am on both days and visitors can also participate in workshops making recycled crafts, recycled pots, natural insect repellent, enzyme and soap.
Event organising chairman Teh Yee Cheu said the event was a ‘warm-up’ to the Penang International Green Carnival 2014, scheduled to take place in August at the Esplanade.
Visitors to the event at sPICE can also sign two petitions calling for support on energy efficiency and for renewable energy.
There will be free shuttle bus services available on both days.
The buses leave from Butterworth jetty (railway station) to Chai Leng Park (Caltex) to sPICE, from Juru Autocity (Starbucks) to Sunway Car-nival Mall (Caltex) to sPICE, from Penang jetty (bus station) to Komtar (CIMB) to sPICE and from Balik Pulau depo to Pasar Lama Balik Pulau to sPICE.
The pick-up time to sPICE are at 9.30am, 11.30am and 1.30pm while from sPICE back to the pick- up points are at 1pm, 3pm and 6.15pm.
