The Star celebrated its 42nd anniversary with a special do at Star Media Hub, Bukit Jelutong on Monday .
The skies opened up just before the start of the event but the rain certainly did not dampen the mood.
The event, emceed by Red FM deejays Linora Low and Jeremy Teo, was attended by The Star employees and retired personnel.
Also present was Star Publications (M) Berhad acting group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai.
The occasion was also an opportunity for The Star employees to meet their colleagues from the other bureaus and departments.
The scrumptious buffet spread consisted of local delights such as fried koay teow, popiah and ais kacang, as well as a birthday cake.
While enjoying the food, the crowd enjoyed performances by Helmi & the Gimmicks, which included impersonations of Michael Jackson and Datuk David Arumugam from Alleycats.
More entertainment was provided by the dance trio from Elecoldxhot, who wowed the audience with their nifty moves.
There was also a lucky draw where 42 prizes were up for grabs, including shopping vouchers, DVD players, induction cookers and other electrical appliances.
Another highlight was the 15-Year Long Service Award presented to 29 employees from various departments in appreciation of their loyalty.
