MUKAH: The FA Cup competition has kicked off at Dalat-Mukah District Council Padang Mesra here with six out of the initial eight teams participating.

According to Mukah Division Football Association (Mufa) deputy president Jamil Othman, Madro and MPG would not be joining as they lack players.

This leaves Mufa-Naim League champions Saza United, runners-up Nafas E10D, Petanak Petian Daya, Landas I, IPD-M FC and Press Metal squaring it off to vie for the Cup.

“For the Sept 28-Oct 6 Sarawak Champions League in Bintulu, only Nafas E10D will represent Mukah Division, instead of Saza United as the latter cannot meet organisers’ requirement of having only three over-31 players,” Jamil said prior to the opener between Saza United and IPD-M last Sunday.

Both sides drew 2-2.

Organised by Mufa, the FA Cup only involves quarter-finalists of this year’s Mufa-Naim League and is conducted on a double knockout basis in the first round and single knockout in the second.

The tournament is part of the association’s ongoing efforts to develop football in the division, and also to provide the oppor- tunity for Sarawak Champions League hopefuls Nafas E10D to train.
