Belaga PRS wants royalty for people whose land was taken to make way for hydro dams

MIRI: Sarawak Hidro Sdn Bhd and Sarawak Energy Bhd have been urged to pay fair, reasonable and appropriate royalty to the people of Belaga district in consideration for the loss of their homes and ancestral domain in the Balui Valley and Murum Valley to make way for the Bakun and Murum hydroelectric dams.

This was among the eight resolutions passed during the recently held Belaga PRS meeting to be considered by the party in its coming triennial delegates’ conference (TDC).
