Crowd cheers as actors 'relive' the historical day 50 years ago

KUCHING: Few remember what it was like 50 years ago on July 22, 1963 when Sarawak became a sovereign state, but if they did, it was probably a lot like yesterday.

The skies were clear with not a cloud to be seen as hundreds of visitors made their way to the banks of the Sarawak River to watch a special pantomime depicting the historical events that led to the independence of Sarawak from the British government.
