SIBU: Some 233 Red Meranti trees were alleged to have been illegally felled by loggers whom villagers claimed had encroached onto their land.
The matter came to light when one of the villagers of 37-door Rumah Meruda Sungai Poi, Kanowit went hunting for wild game and saw loggers felling trees with chainsaws and moving the logs using heavy machinery.
